A Victorian Tea Dance

Enjoy an afternoon of Victorian-era and Victorian-inspired English Country dancing, paired with a shared potluck Tea Time luncheon. Arrive early to partake in a pre-event Victorian-era waltz class.

Victorian Waltz Class
12:30 - 1:30 pm

Renée Camus returns for a continuation of specialized waltz instruction focusing on the ever-popular Victorian-era waltz. Taught using recorded music from 12:30–1:30, our February pre-event class emphasizes lead-and-follow and footwork techniques to gain confidence navigating the ballroom. Time permitting, learn some period variations such as the redowa and polka-mazurka!
>
> Note there is a brief intermission from 1:30-2:30 pm before the main event. We encourage you to bring a snack or grab a bite at a local counter restaurant. Very light snacks provided for waltz class attendees. Potluck contributions are saved for the Tea Time luncheon at 4pm.

COSTUMES

Though many dancers enjoy wearing the lovely costumes of the Victorian era for this event, there are always friends in modern casual dress!
We subscribe to the popular phrase:
Costumes admired
but never required.

If you do choose to wear a historical outfit and are looking for inspiration, imagine a daytime outfit from movies such as The Young Victoria (2009), any Jane Eyre adaptation, and/or any Charles Dickens work. There's a wide range of options!

Important Costume Note:
Please be certain you can move easily in your costume and do not wear anything that would impede you or others while dancing. Please note dresses that trail on the ground are not allowed as they impede dancing for all. High heels are not recommended for this style of dance.
